65” LCD TV

TV Buying Guide

If you’ve decided to get a new LCD TV for your living room, bedroom, or kitchen, then you might be wondering how to go about buying this new television for your house. TVs are a big investment for your house, and it is important that you get the right one for you. So to help you get a good 65 inch LCD TV, we’ve put together some buying considerations.

  • Plasma vs. LCD

Plasma and LCD are the two most common technologies used in making TVs. Plasma makes use of neon-xenon gas in plasma form, and works somewhat the same way as a light bulb. Plasma was the first technology to be used in flat screen TVs. These have high color contrast and can produce deep black, but they can have burn-in (retained) images on their screens. They also are very hot when used for long periods of time, but they are cheaper than LCD TVs.

LCD makes use of polarized sheets of materials, and the top layer is coated with liquid crystals. These crystals make use of white light to produce colors. LCD can produce brighter images and have no burn-in images but they have a lower contrast between colors and cannot show dark blacks. LCD has a lower risk of overheating, but they are more expensive, though prices are changing, than most plasma TVs.

Given these facts, you should deliberate on what kind of 65" LCD TV you want to get for your house. If you play a lot of games with static images like backgrounds and such, you might prefer to get yourself an LCD TV. If you like to see high contrasting colors when watching a movie in the dark, then plasma TVs might be the right kind of TV for you.

  • Set your Budget

Most LCD TVs can cost hundred of dollars, depending on the brand and quality of the TV. Set your budget according to what you can afford, and start looking for televisions in your price range. Remember that if you decide to buy the cheaper models, then you won’t get as good quality as getting a more expensive one.
